Selaginella uncinata

Varenr. 406 TC

Selaginella uncinata is a distinctive trailing moss fern prized for its shimmering blue-green foliage. The delicate leaves cover the stems densely, creating a lush carpet of colour that stands out beautifully among traditional green terrarium plants.

Its creeping growth habit makes it ideal for covering the substrate, softening hardscape elements, or adding depth to tropical terrarium layouts. Once established, it grows vigorously and may spread over neighbouring plants, but it responds well to regular trimming and shaping.

Easy to cultivate and highly decorative, Selaginella uncinata is an excellent choice for hobbyists looking to introduce unique colour and texture into humid tropical environments.

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What are Tropica Terra plants?

Tropica Terra plants are live terrarium plants grown in sterile conditions, ready to be planted in terrariums, paludariums, vivariums, and other humid indoor plant displays.

Do Terra plants need high humidity?

Most Terra plants thrive in environments with moderate to high humidity. For best results, we recommend growing them in enclosed or partially enclosed terrariums where humidity levels remain stable.

What kind of light do terrarium plants need?

Most Terra species prefer low to moderate light levels. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can overheat the terrarium and damage the plants.

How do I plant my Terra cup?

Carefully remove the plant from the cup and gently separate it into smaller portions. Plant each portion into moist substrate and keep humidity high while the plant establishes itself.

Can terrarium plants be trimmed?

Yes. Most Terra plants respond well to trimming. Regular maintenance helps control growth, encourages branching, and keeps the layout looking neat.

Are Terra plants suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. Many terrarium species are easy to grow and maintain, making them an excellent choice for both newcomers and experienced terrarium hobbyists.
